University Place

University Place received its name in the 1800’s when the University of Puget Sound purchased land along Grandview Drive. It was later sold back to the city, but the name stuck. The city remained an unincorporated part of Pierce County until 1995. University place is largely suburban with residential area on the Puget Sound Waterfront. Also home to the Scottish-Links style, Chambers Bay Golf course, with stunning walking trails, dining, and playgrounds etched into the hillsides.
